Instead of treating archiving as permanent deletion, the plugin keeps archive creation, verification, export, restore, and live-order detachment as separate controlled steps. This separation helps store teams review what will happen before a large job begins and keeps recovery options available when customer support, accounting, or compliance work requires an older order.
An administrator first configures the archive criteria, storage preference, batch size, and retention behavior. A dry run can then report which orders match those rules. When the live job starts, the plugin processes eligible records in batches, records progress, and verifies the archived data. Completed records remain available in the archive browser for inspection, export, restore, or an approved detach action.
The archive table includes filters and bulk actions so administrators do not need to open every record individually. A complete archive export can be started from the same screen, with live progress followed by automatic download when the ZIP is ready. Generated CSV data is protected against spreadsheet formula execution, and download requests require authenticated, capability-checked access.
Archiving a record does not automatically remove the live WooCommerce order. Live Detach Mode is available for stores that intentionally want that second step, while minimum-age and supported-status controls help reduce accidental removal. The workflow can require a CSV backup before detachment, and restore operations retain logs for later review.
Order Archive & Restore for WooCommerce also limits generated-file operations to the managed archive directory. This prevents an archive action from reading or deleting arbitrary server paths. Local storage is available by default, while Google Drive can be configured as an optional storage destination when the store has valid credentials.
The plugin uses WooCommerce order APIs and declares compatibility with High-Performance Order Storage. Order selection and customer-facing archive access avoid legacy-only order queries, helping the same workflow operate on modern WooCommerce installations.
